RECENTLY, THE Bennigan’s chain of restaurants announced that it was liquidating and closing more than 200 of its corporate-owned establishments across the country.
Lost amid the business press’ speculations about shifting markets and snide remarks about the chain’s food quality and decor were the lives and stories of the hundreds of Bennigan’s employees who are now out of a job. In fact, I could not track down a single news story that even mentioned how many workers were impacted.
Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Snow Angels on 16th September 2008 priced at $27.95 SRP. David Gordon Green directs this drama based on the novel by Stewart O’Nan. The film stars Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell and Michael Angarano.

Book discussions are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Bordentown Library, East Union Street, in Bordentown City. In August the book is “Last Night at the Lobster” by Stewart O’Nan: “A poignant portrayal of lives that often go unnoticed. It’s four days before Christmas, and the last day of business for a Red Lobster restaurant not making its numbers near a fledgling mall in a no-name New England town.
