8/13/2008: Book Discussion (Bordentown, NJ)

Book discussions are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Bordentown Library, East Union Street, in Bordentown City. In August the book is “Last Night at the Lobster” by Stewart O’Nan: “A poignant portrayal of lives that often go unnoticed. It’s four days before Christmas, and the last day of business for a Red Lobster restaurant not making its numbers near a fledgling mall in a no-name New England town. Manny, the manager, is stalwart in a job that is often thankless, now facing a snowstorm that shuts down the town.”

“A page-turner that delivers a tale as full of mystery and imagination as Poe’s famous stories…Stewart O’Nan’s life of Poe would make a great movie: erotic, violent, darkly humorous, suspenseful, and shocking.”
– Roger Corman, director of House of Usher, Pit and the Pendulum, and The Raven
