Ms. Oliverio, who owns the Squirrel Hill Cafe with her husband Rod, said that Mr. Bourdain was there from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. She said the filming mostly consisted of Mr. Bourdain talking with local author Stewart O’Nan, who apparently recommended that Mr. Bourdain check out the Squirrel Hill institution.

“He was trying to get into iconic Pittsburgh,” Ms. Oliverio said. “So [O’Nan] said, ‘You have to go to the Squirrel Hill Café. It’s my favorite bar.’”
