The New York Times Book Review: Stewart O’Nan’s New Thriller Is Set in Post-World War II Jerusalem
The desperate group of four men pried loose the tracks, flagged down the train, held the engineer and passengers at gunpoint and blew the mail car to smithereens to crack the safe and make off with the payroll for the troops in town. Not Butch and Sundance, but a raid by an action cell of the Haganah, the Israeli underground resistance operating against British Mandate forces in post-World War II Jerusalem.

The Friends of the Bristol Public Library invite you to a community Author Luncheon with best-selling author Stewart O’Nan, Thursday, July 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 42 Century Drive, Bristol, CT. Stewart O’Nan will discuss how he came to write three books set in Connecticut (Night Country, Circus Fire and Last Night at the Lobster) and how area libraries were of help to him. Stewart will also read from his national best-selling novel, Last Night at the Lobster, based on true events in Bristol and the local area. Doors open @ 11:30 AM.

“When you look back to the ’70s and a lot of what we thought were important American writers, important literary writers, some of that stuff seems kind of mannered and silly and rather dated,” says Stewart O’Nan, the Regent Square writer who has collaborated with King on two books.
“You can go back and read ‘The Stand’ or ‘The Shining,’ and they’re amazing. I go back and read those books all the time. I end up buying used paperback copies just so I can take them wherever I’m going,” he says.
West of Sunset in Germany — Best in June, Plus Upcoming European Tour
From Germany’s Southwest Deutschland Public TV, Westlich des Sunset (West of Sunset) was chosen as their #1 recommended book for June! Great timing, as Stewart will be heading back out to Europe for West of Sunset. European fans can catch him at cities such as Salzburg and Stuttgart in the coming weeks.
